Immigrant women engineers construction internships Montreal Quebec

immigrant-women-engineers-construction-internships-montreal-quebec-21As a new arrival in Quebec and a female in an unconventional career choice such as Civil Engineering, I had my first Canadian experience at Construction Daniel Dargis Inc. Here is my experience as a consultant in this Civil Engineering, Architecture, design, construction and renovation consulting firm. The ease of searching for a first work experience in the engineering discipline in Quebec.

Since my association with the Order of Engineers in Quebec in January 2014, I have started to search for work and at the same time, kept up my technical knowledge in Civil Engineering, and taken theoretical courses over the computer.

Thanks to La Maisonnee and its employment services, I heard about Construction Daniel Dargis Inc with this integration employment program and internship. This Quebec firm recruits professional immigrants by offering them a first hand work experience which then facilitates job search.

The available resources for finding a first work experience and the effectiveness in finding work. The necessary time to find a first job.

After five months of job searching and having finished the La Maisonnee workshops and seeing the opportunities at Construction Daniel Dargis Inc, I contacted the head of the firm, Mr Daniel Dargis, Canadian Engineer and Entrepreneur, to offer him my Junior Civil Engineering services as an intern at his company. It has been eleven weeks since I have been accepted in his team.

He shared with us his experiences working on diverse construction and renovation projects in Trois-Riviere, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Manitoba, and Ontario in order to better understand the construction procedures in Canada.

The advantages of working as an non-renumerative Intern in a firm in one’s professional field.

There is nothing more gratifying than working in your field of interest and this opportunity to work at Construction Daniel Dargis Inc has confirmed this for me. As a female engineering intern and immigrant, I have numerous tasks and diverse responsibilities that consist of theoretical plans in National Building Code of Canada, applying Quebec building code standards, participating in writing reports, acting as a coordinator between the firm, the clients and other organizations and working in groups with civil engineering, architectural and design consultants for the design and implementation of building projects.

All these tasks allowed me to perfect my knowledge and increase my comprehension by ensuring the usage of appropriate norms and techniques by overseeing quality work control and guaranteeing client satisfaction.

I find it encouraging that Construction Daniel Dargis Inc, integrates newly arrived female and male immigrants looking for employment in real and concete projects to have a first work experience in order to be a well prepared candidate for other firms.
